TikTok trends you need to try!

Who remembers the rise of TikTok in 2020?
Dance crazes, slime challenges, makeup tutorials and more. There’s no denying that the app has had a major influence on the trends that grace our lives…including fashion.
Fashion lovers across the globe now have the chance to share their favourite looks with just a touch of a button. Inspiring their followers in the process.
While the most popular fashion TikTok-ers have unique styles, there’s definitely a theme when it comes to key trends.
Here are the key trends of the moment and how to achieve them.
TikTok trends you need to try
Barbicore
If not made obvious by the name, this aesthetic is all about the PINK. Always nostalgic and sometimes tacky, the punchy colour is back in a big way.
The great thing about this trend is how you can fit it into your existing wardrobe, without having to go crazy online shopping.
You can add injections of fuchsia, rose and magenta to elevate your favourite denim skirt, or go all out and colour block a variety of shades - the options are endless. Whether it’s a mini dress or a tailored suit, the more of the shade the better.

Plaza Princess
All you need to know about this trend is that it’s inspired by the one and only Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl. Her collection of velvet headbands and tartan miniskirts is one to be admired and now influences a modern-day trend.
Slightly more professional than the previously mentioned Barbicore, it’s all about peter pan collars and preppy blazers, with hints of glam thrown in using accessories.
If you want to try out this look, opt for houndstooth jackets, pearl necklaces and mini pleated skirts.

Fairycore
Completely whimsical and inspired by the wispy vibes of fictional characters, this look is what dreams are made of.
Create your own fantasy land using silky fabrics, nature-inspired shades and unstructured shapes.
If you really want to go above and beyond, combine this look with curled hair, soft pastel makeup and ribbon accessories.

90s Whimsigoth
The perfect balance between an angry girl aesthetic and witchy vibes, you can take yourself right back to the 90s with this goth-inspired trend.
Mesh tops, slip skirts and chunky black boots are the essentials when it comes to re-creating this look. You can grunge this look up as much as you like, depending on your mood or where you’re going.
To give a gentle nod to the style, keep tones on the darker end of the scale, switch out your denim for leather and make sure those nails are painted black.

Disco-inferno
Has 70s styling ever been out of fashion?
While we’ve seen the rise of flares, baby tees and wavy hair, disco is now having its time to shine. Yeah, that’s right, sequins are back just in time for Christmas party season.
If you’re worried about looking like a disco ball - not a bad look if you ask us - tone it down slightly with items you’re more comfortable with. Opt for an oversized tee to pair with a sequin skirt - worn with biker boots and a baguette bag, you can create a more casual look while still staying on trend.
